COACH TRIP on 17th June 2023
Bradley Canal Open Day

As part of a change of tack for the Society, it was suggested at the recent AGM that members might enjoy some activities in the daytime and not solely meetings in the winter evenings.

As a trial run, we thought it might be good to have a trip locally, and that's why the Bradley Canal Open Day was suggested. The canal is now the subject of a serious restoration, and the Festival will include access to the lock-gate workshops, which are well worth a visit, even if you've been before.

The Festival is on Saturday June 17, and the Society has booked a coach from Johnsons in Henley-in-Arden leaving at about 10:30pm to arrive at Bradley by approx 11:30.  Lunch has been suggested at the well known 'Mad O'Rourkes Pie Factory , and if there's enough interest, a table would be booked, although there might be other options, or you could bring a picnic.

Johnsons coaches is easily accessible by car, north of Henley on the A34 at Liveridge Hill,  and there would be enough parking for our cars for the day. The fare would work out at about £15=00 return, and a 35 seat coach is booked.

The return trip would be at about 3:30 - 4:00 pm, giving quite enough time for seeing the restoration, as well as the 'Open Day' at the workshop.

This would be an interesting day out and might be a way of getting the younger generation interested in the canals and their infrastructure.

Please let Alasdair know as soon as possible if you would like to join this trip, with numbers if possible. It's not restricted to Society members, so we're hoping for a good up-take.
